What to Know Before You Rent

The following recommendations for the best RV rentals in Seattle are broken down first by size and then by type.
Size relates to the capacity of the RV or camper. This is how many people the rig comfortably sleeps. It’s also a good indication of the amount of overall living space.
For RVs, size is broken down by Class A (largest), Class C (smallest), and Class B (camper van) – confusing, I know. And, then, you have camping trailers ranging from teardrop trailers to fifth-wheel trailers. Check out Outdoorsy’s big guide to RV classes for more clarification.
RV type, on the other hand, is broken down by drivable or towable. A drivable RV is a self-contained motorized vehicle while a towable RV is a trailer that must be towed behind another vehicle.
Most large towable RVs require a truck or high-capacity towing vehicle. Many small towable RVs (such as fiberglass teardrop models) can be towed behind almost any vehicle with a trailer hitch.
Sleeps 2 People
Solo travelers and couples should start their RV search with small, two-person models.
Most two-person RVs come in the form of towable camping trailers. These are typically light enough for most cars (even many 4-cylinder models) to tow. A camper van is another, drivable option for one or two campers.
Despite their small size, you can find 2-person RV rentals with plenty of amenities, including a kitchenette and small bathroom. Or, save money by opting for a barebones camping model.
Here are three of the best 2-person RV rentals in Seattle:
1. 2011 Honda Element eCamper

It might be small, but this 2011 Honda Element eCamper packs a big punch.
Comfortably sleeping two adults (or, possibly, one adult and two small children), this drivable camper features a built-in rooftop tent that pops up in under a minute. Not only is the pop-up sleeping area comfortable, but it makes for plenty of storage space in the vehicle below.

Upgrade to the “Sleeping Comfort” ($9 extra) package to receive sleeping bags, pillows, and linens and/or the “Cooking Package” ($15) to receive a Coleman cook stove, cookware, and dishware.
There’s no denying this Honda Element eCamper is small. But what it lacks in size and space it makes up for in convenience and reliability. You’ll save a lot on gas compared to a larger RV as well!

A small but comfortable RV camping option, this 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan is ideal for families with two adults and two children.

Nicknamed the #Buslife, this rig has a small kitchenette with a built-in sink, two-burner stove, and mini fridge. The two front seats swivel around to face the back, joining the two seats on the rear bench. A removable dinette table fits perfectly in between.

Things to Do Near Seattle
Now that you’ve booked your Seattle RV rental, it’s time to think about where you want to explore.
Our guide to the best camping in Washington is a good place to start. Here are a few other popular destinations for RV camping near Seattle.
Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier National Park is a popular RV camping destination near Seattle.
It’s most notable for the 14,410-foot tall peak which is prominently visible from Seattle on clear days. Other national park highlights include a variety of alpine lakes, colorful wildflower meadows, a huge abundance of wildlife, and the historic Paradise Inn.
Cougar Rock Campground is one of the best Mount Rainier RV campgrounds. It accommodates RVs up to 35 feet and trailers up to 27 feet. No hookups are offered, although there is an RV dump station.
Olympic National Park
Olympic National Park is a year-round destination for RV camping in Washington State.
It boasts three distinct ecosystems within its boundaries: glacier-capped mountains, sprawling ocean beaches, and temperate rainforest. Make sure to visit Ruby Beach, Lake Crescent, and Sol Duc Falls.
RV camping in Olympic National Park doesn’t get better than Kalaloch Campground. With campsites just 40 feet from the beach, it’s among the most scenic around. Most sites accommodate RVs up to 21 feet. A few accommodate RVs up to 35 feet. No hookups are available, but an RV dump station is provided.
North Cascades National Park
Just two hours north of Seattle, RV campers flock to North Cascades National Park each summer.
Arguably the most remote and pristine of Washington State’s three national parks, North Cascades is a stunning mixture of granite mountains, glacier-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, roaring rivers, and an abundance of wildlife. The scenic North Cascades Highway (or, better yet, the Cascade Loop) are favorite Seattle RV road trip destinations for the whole family.
Newhalem Creek Campground is the best campground for RVs within the park. It can accommodate large RVs. It has no hookups but does have an RV dump station. Nearby Alpine RV Park and Concrete/Grand Creek KOA are two RV camping options with full hookups.
Mount Saint Helens
Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument is another convenient RV camping destination when renting an RV in Seattle.
Most notable for its eruption in 1980, the most destructive in U.S. history, the mountain is popular with nature lovers and history buffs alike. The Ape Caves (actually a spacious lava tube) are a popular all-ages destination for hiking and exploring.
Several RV parks are located near Mount Saint Helens, including the Longview North/Mount St. Helens KOA and the Mt. Saint Helens RV Resort. Both accommodate large RVs. Both provide full hookups and RV dump stations.
Mount Baker
Located an hour east of coastal Bellingham, Mount Baker and the surrounding Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest are a haven for camping and outdoor recreation.
Best known for the Mt. Baker Ski Area in the winter, the area boasts dozens upon dozens of gorgeous Mount Baker hikes in the spring, summer, and fall. First-time visitors will love scenic Artist Point near the end of Mount Baker Highway.
Swift Creek Campground near Baker Lake has RV campsites while Silver Fir Campground to the north along Mount Baker Highway also accommodates RV campers. Neither has RV hookups or dump stations.
