We recently did a post here on Beyond The Tent listing the 10 most romantic camping destinations in Minnesota. The post was shared over 2,000 times within a couple of hours! Honestly, we had no idea that our readers were so hungry for romantic camping. So to go with the romantic theme, we decided to put together 10 items that will make your next camping trip more romantic.
This isn’t about where you are staying, but how to make it more romantic no matter where you are. Here are our favorites:
Queen Sized, Flannel Lined Sleeping Bag
Rather than sleeping in a tight mummy sleeping bag all alone, you could be cuddling up next to your loved on in this incredibly warm and soft flannel lined sleeping bag. Even alone, this is one comfy sleeping bag.
Coleman Queen Airbed & Cot
The Coleman Queen Airbed Cot is a queen size airbed propped up on a foldable cot stand. The queen size is just big enough to be comfortable and romantic while the cot stand allows you to get up off the ground and store gear under the bed.
Picnic Backpack For 2
This picnic backpack is perfect to strap on and enjoy a great picnic with your loved one when out on a hike. It perfectly organizes everything you will need from plates, silverware, picnic cloth, wine and even your food. Enjoy a romantic picnic anywhere.
Bring A Portable Shower
There is nothing romantic about being smelly and dirty. With battery powered portable shower, you can fill a bucket of water (hot if you have it) place the suction end of the shower in the water, turn on and have a nice shower in the middle of nowhere. Perfect for getting clean before getting cozy!
Bring a HOT Portable Shower
Let’s be honest, nobody wants a cold shower. A hot shower is definitely a thing of luxury and romance. With the Mr. Heater portable water heater, a propane cylinder and a couple of D batteries, you can enjoy a hot shower up to 35 degree F warmer than your current water temp.
Battery-Powered Frozen-Concoction Maker
Grab a handful of ice from your cooler and enjoy any kind of frozen concoction after a hot day camping. This frozen concoction maker can whip up daiquiris, margaritas or any kind of slushy.
Eno DoubleNest Hammock
The ENO Double Hammock is great for relaxing with you loved one under the evening stars or just chilling around a fire. With support for up to 400 lbs, the two of you won’t have a problem “hanging” out together. Full Eno Review.
Bring A Fujifilm Instamax Camera
Many people love taking photos and there is really nothing more satisfying that being able to hold your photo right after taking it. With the Fujifilm Instamax Camera you and your loved one can take fun photos all day and create a camping scrap book around the fire in the evening.
Portable Propane Campfire “Little Red Campfire”
I must admit that I thought the Little Red Campfire was ridiculous when we first got ours. I was incredibly wrong though. This portable propane campfire makes having a campfire incredibly simple and easy. No smoky smelling clothes, no hassle of finding wood (or wet wood for that matter). We even used it on a camping tripwhere it rained for the entire trip, we set it up under an awning and enjoyed the soft glow and warmth.
Coleman LED String Lights
Nothing sets the mood quite like lighting. By hanging these lantern lights around your tent, in a tree or on your camper, you will have a soft light that screams peace and romance. Check out our camper lights here for a fun & romantic setting for your camper.
Double Pie Iron
Cooking your food over the fire is a great way to spend time together, create good food and enjoy the peacefulness of camping. With a double pie iron you can create great meals like Pie Iron Pizza Calzones and Pie Iron Philly Cheese Steaks.
Bring a Themacell Mosquito Repeller
Ok, a Thermacell may not be the most romantic thing in the world, but bear with me here. Imagine planning the perfect camping trip, just the two of you, only to arrive and realize that your campsite is in the middle of mosquito city! It may not be romantic by it’s self, but a thermacell will definitely help you enjoy your trip! A bonus of the lantern is the double duty of mosquito/bug repellant plus a wonderful lantern. Read our full Thermacell review.
Bring a Propane Heater To Warm Up Your Tent
You’ll proably have a hard time feeling romantic if you’re freezing cold at night. This portable propane heater from Mr. Heater delivers 4,000 – 9,000 btu’s of safe indoor heat for your camping trip. It features three safety shut off features, it will shut off if tipped over, if the pilot light goes out or if it detects low oxygen. This heater will easily heat up any tent in the 10-40 sq foot range.
Hershey’s S’mores Kit
Let’s face it, you’re gonna want s’mores. Nuff Said (mic drop).

Hey there, I’m Ryan, the face behind Beyond The Tent.
With decades of camping experiences, my journey into the wilderness began on the rustic trails of a farm in southern Minnesota, where my childhood was filled with explorations and camping by a picturesque river.
My family’s adventures across the United States, from the majestic Colorado mountains to the serene national parks and the pristine Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Northern Minnesota have given me a broad perspective. With each journey, whether in state parks or private encampments, and through the homely comfort of our camping trailers, we’ve amassed a trove of stories, experiences, and invaluable camping wisdom.

Don't forget about a airmatress. Romantic nights for me need a nice comfy space to rest my head. Plus as they lose a little air in the night it helps push you closer together.
