My family LOVES Waterparks!
Camping doesn’t have to always be about sleeping in a tent.
While there are a ton of amazing places to go Camping in Wisconsin, there is also a large number of people who “Hotel” camp and this review is for you guys! During our adventure out to Door County, WI I made arrangements to stop halfway and stay overnight at The Grand Lodge Waterpark in Wausau.
Right when we drove up to the hotel the kids were excited! I loved the up North feel the hotel has throughout the building. There is a huge tree in the middle of the lobby the kids played on while we were checking into our room for the night. This place is more than family friendly!
Veggin’ Out Kid Style
We stayed in the Kids Bunk Bed Suite and that first night everyone was tired from the packing and traveling. We watched a little TV and called it an early night. The hotel doesn’t run the waterpark pool area during the week, which was kind of a bummer. We lifted the kid’s spirits by reminding them our plans to stay at the waterpark again on our way home and the waterpark pool area would be open we came back.
It’s Pool Time
We had more than enough time to enjoy the pool when we showed up on Sunday. I have to be honest with you I have been to a handful of indoor waterparks and this one is amazing fun! There is a few sections that cater to all ages.
The large water works area with a water bucket that dumps on everyone was a huge hit! A bell starts to ring just before the bucket is ready to empty out on top of everyone’s head. This came in handy for me because I don’t really like to get wet!
There it Goes
Yet, I stood under it just for Ryan…
The little children enjoyed playing in the toddler area. This was the first time I had seen a baby swing in the water for babies.
The whole family spent time floating down the lazy river together. Ryan and I shared a tube with the two mini children and tried our best to keep them from getting wet from the water falling above us.
From water slide tubes, water pads, hot tub all the way to the water bucket you are guaranteed to have a blast when you stay at the Grand Lodge!
We had a Great Time!
The hotel has many different types of rooms for guests to choose from when planning a trip to stay. There are a couple of loft style suites, standard rooms and you can stay in an extended stay room if you are vacationing longer than normal.
The Girls liked Hanging Out in the Bunk Bed
My bed was very comfortable and it was nice having our own space after spending 5 days together in our camper. I can see why some people “Hotel Camp”!
The next morning, before heading out onto the open road once again we all had a light breakfast provided by the Grand Lodge. Everything was tasty and the coffee was hot. If you are in the area and need a place to entertain children, but don’t want to feel like you are at a “Kid Zone” the Grand Lodge gives you the best of both worlds.
Let us know if you plan on visiting the Grand Lodge Hotel in Wisconsin soon!
